Hello dear friend!
My heart is joyful to connect with you as you navigate your path. I want to introduce myself and share a little about my personal journey on this planet.
I am Dr. Julia-Grace (she/they), and I owe much of my first introduction to yoga to my beautiful mother. She took me to my first yoga class at the local YMCA in 2001, and since that moment I have developed a passion for the traditional practices of yoga and Eastern philosophy. Following my Awakening in 2014, I was called to pursue my teacher training and completed my 200 hour YTT certification studying under J Miles, Jane Bahneman, and Kelly Kostecki in Richmond, VA. Over the years, the teachings I share have grown to focus on nurturing the body through breath, connecting breath to movement, and through movement finding stillness.
My holistic journey also began in 2014. On this path, I have tapped into multiple modalities to heal my physical and energetic bodies. Making changes in my diet and exercise routines, deepening my meditation practice, discovering acupuncture, implementing Ayurvedic kriyas, and diving into holistic medicine awakened my awareness for my body's needs and its connection to the state of my mind.
While I celebrated my growth and change, I still felt like something was missing, a piece of the puzzle that integrated all of the work I had been doing. Then, I discovered Reiki.
I received my first Reiki healing session in 2015 and immediately realized the missing link. My energetic body, this subtle layer connecting my body to my mind, needed healing too. Regardless of how many Reiki sessions I receive, I continue to be amazed at the power of this work. Sitting in the wholeness and warmth my body feels after a session is truly one of my favorite experiences. And, I love sharing the healing intentions of Reiki Energy with my family, friends, and clients!
My passion for studying human physiology and biomechanics led me to earn my doctorate in biomedical engineering from Wake Forest University in 2023. Some question how I integrate my scientific world with my holistic world. My honest answer is that both complement each other quite beautifully. I teach my students how to implement the scientific understandings of human anatomy and injury prevention into their daily yoga practices - the key is curiosity and play :-)
Off the mat, I am a lover of trees, a mother to two cats, and a faerie spirit enjoying the wonder of our universe.
I look forward to sharing my joy in these practices with you!
In Joy,
Dr. Julia-Grace
